MG Car Repair: MGTD Brakes, fluid cylinder, wire wheels

Question
I would like to put MGB disc brakes on my TD.  I know it has been done, but would like some info on it before I start.

Thanks
Tommy

Answer
Sorry for the delay, my computer had a major failure which took 10 days to fix.

Yes, I have seen disc brakes fitted to a TD.  It was on a race-modified car.

The installation I saw used MGB discs, callipers, kingpins and shock absorbers as a complete unit.  They also fitted the anti-roll bar at the same time.  The track rods needed to be shortened and re-threaded, because they were too long.

The TD master cylinder is not very large in capacity, so I would also fit a remote brake fluid cylinder on the bulkhead and keep an eye on the fluid level as the pads wear down.

MGBs have 4-stud wheels, whereas the TD has 5-stud wheels.  They used MGA wheels at the front to solve this problem, although a set of wire wheels would be a neater solution.
