MG Car Repair: ignition lock, mg midget, hot wire

the ignition lock has jammed on my 1978 mg midget 1500.the wires are easily accessable and i am wondering if i could get the car going by making temporary connections.if so what colours to connect.thanks for any help

Hi, Tony.  Sorry for the delay.  My computer had a fault that took 10 days to fix.

This is a very dangerous thing to try.  If your ignition lock has jammed, then the steering lock could operate at any time, and you would not be able to steer the car.  I do not recommend that you hot-wire the car.

If you want to know the wiring code, it is:

Plain Brown = power
White or white/green = ignition
White/red = starter.
