MG Car Repair: MG midget 1972, damp weather, fuel stabilizer

Question
Hello Howard,
It is that time of the year in Canada where we are blessed or cursed with a few months of cold and damp weather which ultimately means my 72 midget will have to wait until next spring to be driven again.

This is my first winter with the mg and I am not sure how to prep the car for winter storage.
I have changed the Trans, engine and diff oils and the coolant was changed earlier this year.  I have also filled the gas tank to the top and poured a bottle of fuel stabilizer.
My main concern is lifting the vehicle off the tires.  Specifically where to put the jack stands which I have four of.  In addition, I have heard I should "relieve" pressure from the engine compartment, but have no idea what that means.
Once again thanks for the great advise.

Rico

Answer
Hi Rico,
It sounds like you have covered everything except you didn't say anything about a "battery tender" type charger on the battery.
As for the jack stands, the rear axle housing will support the the rear and most mechanics support the front on the lower "A" frame on each side for the front.
I have no idea what they are talking about "relieving" pressure from the engine compartment.
