MG Car Repair: MGB Starting problem, negative battery cable, starter solenoid

Question
Hi.  I have been having some recent issues starting my 72 mgb converted to one 12V.  I hear the fuel pump pumping but no crank.  This weekend I took the battey out(which was only 2yrs old) had it checked at the local autozone and they said it was bad.  So they prorated a new battery.  While doing that I also replaced the negative battery cable and replaced the terminal on the positive.  Car started up perfect numerous times that day.  Next day I go to start it up and same thing I hear the fuel pump but no crank.  Checked the voltage on the battery and it's 12.5.  Jiggled the cables a bit but still no start.  What next?
Thanks.

Answer
Hi Bonnie,
When you have a charged battery and you get no "spin over" with the starter motor. You need to check to see that the ignition key is sending current to the starter solenoid at the white w/brown tracer wire when the key is in the "Start" position. If not you need to test the white w/red wire from the ignition switch to the starter relay.
If both are ok then you either have a bad connection in the main battery cables (Positive or ground) (feeling a cable for being tight is not a check of connection) Or you have a bad starter solenoid or starter motor.
