MG Car Repair: Soleniod, brown wires, starter motor

Question
I have a 76 midget 1500.  I ordered a lucas solenoid to replace my ill one. I have double checked and it is the correct one for a 76 1500. My problem is as follows: Facing the solenoid, my old one has two spade clips on the left, new one only one. Top spade has two brown wires, bottom/toward the back has one wire. Can I splice them together to the one spade on the new solenoid. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am actually in the middle of it now.

Answer
Your solenoid should have two thick connectors and a thin one.

The thick connectors are usually threaded with a nut, while the thin one is a push-on connector.

One thick connector goes to the starter motor.

The other thick connector goes to the battery, and also has two more wires attached to it.
They are both brown in colour.

The thin connector has the actuator wire attached to it.  This is usually White with a Brown stripe.
