MG Car Repair: MGB GT Battery Location, dzus fasteners, crocodile clips

Question
I have recently bought a MGB GT Plastic Bumper and need to charge the Battery can you tell me where its likely to Be

Answer
Hi David.
Underneath the tiny rear seat you will find a black access plate with Dzus fasteners.

If you undo each fastener 1/4 of a turn, the access plate will pop off revealing the battery.

However, if you have a battery charger with crocodile clips, there is an easier way.

Open the bonnet (hood) and on the offside you will see a fusebox attached to the inner wing.

Pop the lid off, and inside there are 4 fuses.

Attach the black (negative) clip to a suitable earth, like one of the bolts that hold the alternator to the engine.  Then attach the red (positive) clip to the bottom fuse.

Be careful not to touch anything else, there are lots of live wires around.

If you now switch the battery charger on, it should charge the battery.

I have a small `trickle charger' that I bought many years ago.  It has an adapter on the end that plugs into the cigar lighter socket.  That makes the job even easier.
