MG Car Repair: 1971 MG Midget Woes, vacuum leak, mg midget

Question
Hello Charles

My Midget is having some troubles. It starts up fine, but i can only step on the accelerator about 1cm. Anything past that and the car sounds like it is starving for gas, if i hold the accelerator down all the way it will eventually stall out. I just put a new fuel filter on, and had my Weber Carb rebuilt with a new kit. What could this be?

Thanks

Kyle

Answer
Hi Kyle, my name is not Charles but I will try to answer your question. First I would check the fuel pressure from the pump. It should be from 1 1/2 PSI to not more than 3 PSI. If that is Ok I would check for a vacuum leak and if no vacuum leak that carburetor rebuild needs to be double checked.
