MG Car Repair: horn, hot wire, steering wheel

Question
I have a 77 Midget. The horns do not work. I read your previous posts about horns. I have power the purple leads on both horns, and power at the steering column where the purple and black wire is. I replaced the steering wheel with one that does not offer a horn push, so my solution is to mount a swith. The problem I am having is the old horns didn't work, I replaced with brand new ones from VB, still not horn. Got any ideas about what's going wrong? Thanks!

Answer
Hi Dan,
Horns should be easy to make work as there are only two connections on horns. Power and ground, so first test the horns by connecting a power wire to one lead on the horns and ground the other lead. If the horns blow, the horns are ok, then connect a hot wire to the horns (Ignition On hot wire) then run a ground wire from the other lead on the horns up to you button (or switch) and ground the second lead of the switch so when the switch (or button) is connected it grounds the horns.
