MG Car Repair: Fuel pump, seat area, fuel pressure

Question
Sometimes when I turn on my ignition,  fuel  continues to pump  into the
carburetors and  spills  out the overflow stem and will not shut off. What can I
do when this event occurs? This is a 1954 TF.

Answer
Hi Steve,
That means the float needle and seat are not closing off the fuel for what ever reason. Trash getting into the seat area or a sticking float or even the wrong pump using too high pressure.
Either way you need to remove both tops off of the float chambers and clean or replace the needle & seats and set the float levels and test the fuel pressure.
