MG Car Repair: mgb clicking sound????, 6 volt batteries, garrage

hi i have a mgb that has been sitting in a garrage for 10 years and i connecter up a battery to it and tryed to crank it and it turned the engine over a few times and the it sounded like the starter motor was slipping ????? also when i went to crank it without the plugs in it turned over slowly and the interior light went dimm????? hope that u can help

Basically, you have a flat battery.  Depending on the year, it could be a single 12 volt battery (from 1976 on) or a pair of 6 volt batteries (1962-76).  They live in a compartment behind the seats inside the car.  Disconnect the battery terminals, clean them with a green plastic Scotch pad, and re-connect.  Then charge the battery for at least 8 hours, then try again.
