MG Car Repair: 75 MG Midget shifter, pegs, slots

My father was putting the car into reverse, which as you know you have to pull it up then push it up and away. When he pulled it up, he pulled it all the way out. I can't figure out how to put it back in, even with my manual. Do you have any helpful suggestions?

Hi Sterling,
Remove the shift tower cover and it will be evident how it is held in. Two pegs fit into the two slots on the sides of the tin cover. So all you need to do is confirm that the two pegs are still there. Then push the tin cover down and turn to lock into place.
