Happy New Year Howard. I have asked you about this before, but I don't think I phrased my question right. I want to remove my center console so I can carpet the car but the courtesy lamp seems to want to rub on the top fascia, I don't want to damage the top dash is there a special way to tilt the console after taking out the screws to get the thing out without any damage to the top facial? I've enclosed several pictures of my finished engine for you ...it runs as good as it looks thanks for all of your help.

Answer
Wow! Bill, I'm impressed, that is show car class. They didn't look that good when they were new.
I don't remember removing the consoles, although I probably removed many of them. I think the arm rest with that whole section had to come off first then the console would come straight back enough to get to the wires to unplug. I do remember on other cars when anything had to be removed that was tight and we didn't want to mar everything around it, we would take thin cardboard and insert it in-between the work and what ever was to be protected.

I see why you are being careful, you will be able to enter British Car shows with that car.
