MG Car Repair: Where can I find a repair shop?, british car repair, import car repair

I don't know if this question is appropriate for this forum or not...My father just gave me his 1974 1/2 MGB and I need to find a mechanic.  My father lives in CA and I live in New Haven CT.  Help!

Hi Susan,
I don't know anyone in the CT area but you should be able to locate a shop in your area by first looking in the Yellow pages under Repair garages for "British" car repair shops or "Import Car" repair shops. There are no MG dealers in the US anymore but because there are so many MGs still running in the US, there are many British car specialist. If you don't find anything in the Yellow pages, look in new car dealers for a Jaguar dealer and call them and ask for the service dept and ask if they know of any independent Import car repair shop specialist that work on MGs. The MG is different enough that you should NOT let any mechanic work on it unless he or she has MG experience. If that don't net you a shop, search for a local British car club. (Every state has them) any member will know who works on MGs.
