MG Car Repair: 1961 starter, mga

Starter on 1961 MGA is not working properly at all times.  Need some direction/instructions for correcting the problem.

Tell me exactly what you mean "is not working properly at all times"

It makes a noise but won't turn the engine? No noise at all and nothing happens? It sounds like it is turning the engine but very slowly? Each is a different problem and has a different fix.
