MG Car Repair: mgb poorly, inexpensive options, hi aaron

Question
well my drivers seat has punched thru the underside of the car due to rust.. which isnt good. Wondering what my inexpensive options might be?

Answer
Hi Aaron,
The best is to cut out the old floor and replace it with one from one of the MG parts suppliers but you said "inexpensive options" so I take it that is not an option. The most inexpensive way to fix the problem would be to unbolt the seat and get a piece of sheet metal and use a piece of cardboard to cut out a template to fit the floor then use the cardboard templet to mark the piece of sheet metal to fit the floor and drill and bolt in the new piece over the old floor. Bolt it down around the edge as even when the floor rusts away, the lip around the edge usually survives. Then drill the holes from below through the old seat mount holes to rebolt the seat back down. Not a great repair but sure beats falling through.
