MG Car Repair: Replacing door seal 1969 MGB, door latch, rear fender

Question
I have replaced the panels and door seals, and now the doors do not close easily.  It is "jamming", as if the seal is too "fat". The door will close if it is slammed hard.

Answer
Hi Tony,
Yes, a new seal will make it harder to close the door until the seal gets compressed for a while. But, you can look at the surface of the door as it matches the surface of the rear fender. If it is in further than the fender you can adjust the striker plate to make the door match the body. If it already matches the body you will either need to wait until the seal gets compressed or adjust the door stricker plate out and live with it not matching the body for a while. You might try lubing the door latch to help a little.
