Saab: parking brake, parking brake cable, brake rotor

Question
'94

1. how do you adjust the parking brake?

2. is there any automatic adjustment?

Thanks

Answer
Chuck,
I am unfamilier with the 94 parking brake adjustment, but I have found some info for you. Most parking brakes, regardless of make, are self adjusting to a point. After that point has been passed they require readjustment. Please see below for more info:

1994-97 Models
1. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the rear wheels.
2. Using a screwdriver, rotate the brake shoe adjuster until it locks up the brake rotor.
3. Loosen back the adjuster until the brake rotor drags slightly but can be turned. Make this adjustment
to the other rear wheel.
4. Install the rear wheels. Torque the lug nuts to 80-90 ft. lbs. (108-122 Nm).
5. Pull the hand parking brake lever up to the 6th notch. This should lock up the rear wheels.
6. If the parking brake cable equalization also needs adjustment, release the parking brake lever and set
it to the second notch.
7. Turn the adjusting nut on the parking brake cable equalizer until the parking brake starts to engage.
8. Lower the vehicle slightly. Release the parking brake. The rear wheels should be fully locked up when
the parking brake lever is pulled up 6 notches. Continue the adjustment procedure if necessary.
9. Lower the vehicle safely to the ground.

Hope this info helps.
