MG Car Repair: 74 midgit rear spring replacement, polyurethane bushings, bolts and nuts

Question
I am planning on replacing the rear springs on the midgit.  I bought new springs and polyurethane bushings, but now somebody told me i should buy new u bolts and nuts as well.  is this a good idea and if so any other things to lok out for?  I have never done this before.
thanks

Answer
Hi Ryan,
They told you that because many times the "U" bolt threads are rusted and the "U" bolts have been strained and subject to breakage. The rear shackles are also subject to rust and ware. You should inspect all the mounting bolts for ware and rust as the car is 34 years old and 25 in my state is considered an antique. Bolts are a cheep insurance policy.
