MG Car Repair: 1969 midget window mechanism, glass slides, rubber strip

Question
Hi, I hope you can help, I am trying to rebuild teh left side window raising mechanism on my Midget, I have the new guides installed but each time I lower the glass it comes free from the channel holding it to the mechanism. Should the rubber strip be glued to the glass and channel or is there something I am missing?
Heres hoping!!

Answer
First confirm that the glass slides up and down easily in the channels by hand. Then when you install the glass in the rubber strip and force it into the mechanism rail, it should go in very tight and some do use a glue. I have seen mechanics use yellow 3-M and other glues and let it harden for a day or two before installing it in the car. I have put several in with no glue and if they are a tight fit and clean of any grease or oil, I never had one come out as long as the glass is free moving in the up/down channels.
