MG Car Repair: need to move brake & clutch pedals further apart to provide shoe room, clutch pedals, google search

Question
QUESTION: the pedals are so close together as to be unsafe . I have measured the foot well and found i can get about 1 1/2  inches more clearance , total.  either offset the pedal pads on the pedal arms or remove and heat and bend the arms or any other remedy.  can it be done,  is it feasable,  I can remove some of the kick panel vinyl trim in foot well to give 1/2 inch more room.I have size 12 wide shoes.  have you ever done this job??  can you help me ?

ANSWER:  I had to do the same thing, (big feet) I removed the pedals and used heat to spread them apart.

QUESTION: Thank you for answering me. How much of a job was it to move the pedals ? How much should I have to pay, approx. ? Is it a half day job ? full day ? 2 day job ?  Can you reccommend a shop in Southern Calif. Did you have to re-heat treat the pedals after bending ?  Thank you,    Norman

Answer
I am in TN and don't know any one in CA. However, I think Moss Motors has a repair facility besides selling parts. They are in Goleta, CA and their number is 1-800-322-6985.
If that number is not good any more do a Google search and look up their new number. If they don't have a repair facility, they may know someone to trust out there.
I have used heat to bend them and not had a problem. A shop may be reluctant to do it because of liability. I removed the pedal assembly to do mine and I think it took me several hours work as I remember.
