You will have to give me more details than "It don't work".
Does it slip? or drag? Do you have a pedal? What was wrong the first time and what did they do to fix it and what is wrong now?

QUESTION: There is no pedal at all. The clutch does not engage at all. I have left serveral messages for the mechanic, but he has yet to call back. He did tell me that if the car is not used for a period of time the clutch will have a tendancy to go out.

Answer
Jerry, "There is no pedal" means you can't DISengage the clutch correct? The clutch is engaged when you have no pedal.
First look in the clutch resovour to see if there is any fluid. If it is very low add fluid. DOT 4 ONLY!!! Do NOT put in DOT 3 as it will destroy the seals. Let it sit for several hours and then very slowly pump the pedal and add fluid again if necessary.
Yes, it is common for the system to fail when left for some time and for sure if it had Dot 3 in it. If you know it had DOT 3 in it or the system is old you should replace the master and slave or rebuild both.
Let me know,
