MG Car Repair: Choke on 1979 mg midget, mg midget, instrument panel

I used to be able to pull and, twist and lock till not needed- now it pulls out and won't lock at all so have to use a couple of pegs! Any suggestions as to how I can repair it? thanks

Hi Jo,
The lock is in the cable housing close to the dash. You may be able to make a repair depending on what broke by removing the cable and housing (5/8 nut on the back of the instrument panel). I was not able to fix many so just buy another cable and housing if it is not an easy fix.
