Military Vehicle Repair: Doom Light, dome light, light bulb

I have a problem with my 1998 Ranger - my dome light stays on about 90% of the time. How can it be fixed without taking out the light bulb?

I am sorry this is so late. I have been out of town all week, and had put myself on vacation, but they must have missed it. Anyway, here goes.
I think you might need to remove the door panel, and see if the latch is working correctly. The switch is there.
