Mitsubishi Repair: 95 eclipse gs non turbo automatic, eclipse gs, shifting gears

Question
My eclipse recent just started dying, I can be driving and it will all a sudden try to shut down and start down shifting gears or just shut off and then leaves me stranded, once stopped it won't crank over and once it does I can't let the rpms go down or it dies and I have to repeat the process or it won't start at all after that, I've replaced the ecu/ecc/ecm, spark plugs, pc valve, new ignition coil, rebuilt tranny, and about to replace the fuel filter.
The fuel filter works and that was my last bet so can you atleast give me some other options it could be? I also heard it could be something to do with a "switch" on the back of the engine that controls the shifting or something, could that be the problem an why it won't start back up?

Answer
Josiah,
This can be caused by a "leaky" fuel injector flooding the engine.  Letting the engine cool and rest will make excess fuel dissipate and the allow it to start.  This problem can also be caused due to a problem in the charging system.  If the alternator is not charging the battery full or if the battery itself is not accepting a full charge, it can cause immediate starting problem and shutoff.
Good luck!
