If my car keeps stalling out at stop lights unless I give it gas , what could be wrong with it

Typical problems for this occurrence are bad alternator/battery, bad spark plugs, weak fuel supply, or improper ignition timing.  You can have your local mechanic inspect your engine for these things.  You may just need a regular tune-up.
