Mitsubishi Repair: Car keeps dieing, stock unit, stock parts

Question
I have a 1990 eagle talon TSI 5speed. recently i put a different MAF censor on it, it was a stock censor just re wired to trick my system into thinking it was getting more air so it gave me more fuel for power. I took it off and put the original stock MAF censor back on. Now after driving it for a few minutes it will die at every stop light and when i get home it will die every time i start it. while i am rolling with the clutch in the rpms like to jump back and forth from 1000 and 1500. at stops it idles at 1200 the slowly drops and dies. if i let it roll without the clutch in u can feel it kind of stutter. whats wrong? please help me.

Answer
Chris,
If you reinstall the modded MAF sensor and the car runs "normal" again, then that may mean your car's computer is expecting extra air and provides more fuel. Switching back to the stock unit will not immediately update the computer and it may continue to supply too much fuel, causing your stalling. You can try unplugging your battery for a few minutes to reset your computer. Else, you may need to readjust your ignition timing and adjust your idle speed. You can check to make sure your ignition system and charging system are also working normally. Making modifications like the one you did can cause extra strain on the surrounding stock parts and cause them fail prematurely.
Good luck!
