Mitsubishi Repair: Timing Belt, mitsubishi eclipse, timing belt

Question
What is the average cost to repair a timing belt on a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse?

Answer
Alisha,
Replacing the timing belt can usually run between $250-$500.  It all depends on the other components which should be replaced along with the belt, and especially the time in labor involved.

Though the dealership is usually the most expensive, they are also the most experienced and qualified to work on your car.  Plus, they have all the OEM parts available, which are all backed by a 6-12 month warranty.  And they back their labor.  For something as critical as the timing belt, you'll be better off in the long run paying the extra amount in having the dealership replace the belt; especially if you plan on hanging on to the car for a while.
Good luck!
