Mitsubishi Repair: 95 daimante wagon v6 overdrive, overdrive switch, transmission shop

i was going up hill in overdrive about 45 mph and overdrive just went out . will not work at all now . the other gears work but i have to drive slow (rpms get to high) . plus i don't want to do more damage . what could it be and about how much will cost , is it an easy fix i can do myself with out tearing it apart ? thank you for your time ....

This may be a bad overdrive switch or malfunctioning electrical connection.  It's hard to give an estimate on a repair cost, and that ca vary significantly based on the actual problem.  I would recommend you have a transmission shop inspect the drive-train and diagnose the problem; even taking the car to a couple of shops for estimates would not be a bad idea.  You shouldn't cause any any further damage by driving without overdrive.  As long as the RPMs do no go past the red line, you should be fine.
