Mitsubishi Repair: 1995 3000 GT Clutch Not Engaging Gear, clutch slave cylinder, clutch master cylinder

Question
I had my clutch replaced in my 1995 3000 GT, Coupe, 5 Speed, V-6/24 VOHC and for what ever reason, I can press the clutch to engage the ignition or start the car, but the gears will not engage with the clutch pressed, otherwise stuck in neutral and will not go to 1st or any. Previously after getting it back, it would glide out of 1st, 2nd, or 3rd after about an hour of driving; and figured it was the pressure plate they didn't replace; I cranked it up to warm several months ago, and went to shut it off - the clutch stayed in the floor ... So now, it will start and that's about it. No gears will engaged, so I'm standing still ... Any recommendations on the issue, problem and a low cost solution? Thanks

Answer
Rich,
Depressing the clutch pedal to start the car works because there is a separate sensor on the pedal itself that sends a signal to the ignition to allow it to start.  But switching gears is purely mechanical.  You may have a problem with the clutch master cylinder (on the firewall), the clutch slave cylinder (mounted to the transmission), or even a problem with the clutch fork and/or fork pivot ball.  If any of those are excessively worn or damaged, you will have problem shifting.  Also be sure the clutch cables are attached properly, and that nothing is interfering with them.
Good luck!
