Mitsubishi Repair: Aftermarket Mitsubishi Headers, mitsubishi eclipse, radiator fan

Question
Hi there, I recently installed some after market headers onto my 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS. (5 speed manual, 2.0L DOHC engine, with air conditioning). The bung hole for the O2 sensor on the replacement headers is not located in the proper place and hits the secondary/smaller radiator fan when the engine torques or moves and jolts as I drive. The O2 sensor is now bad after hitting the fan and tested on computer as bad.  I'm wondering what my options are. Do they make 45 or 90 degree or swivel connector for the bung hole and O2 sensor?  Is there a thinner radiator fan I could install?  As a last resort, my mechanic says I could disconnect the fan which would only affect the efficiency of the air conditioning system and not get as cold as it could.  Your advise or comments are much appreciated.

Answer
Marty,
Your mechanic has the same idea I'm thinking of.  Simply disconnect the electrical harness for the A/C fan or better yet, remove the fan altogether.  Your A/C should work just fine without it and you may not be able to tell difference.  The only thing you'll want to watch out for is if its a really hot day and you're in stop-and-go traffic and you have the A/C on max.  If your temp gauge starts to move close to the red area, turn off your A/C to allow the engine to cool.

You may be able to find a clever solution that does not involve sacrificing your A/C fan, so keep looking.  I don't know of any options myself, but there's a lot of stuff out there.
Good luck!
