Mitsubishi Repair: Evolution 8 Vibration And SES Light, balance shaft, evolution 8

Heard alot of good stuff about your answers and knowledge for Mitsus. I got a good one for you.

I got a 03 Evo 8 GSR with the 2.0 liter 4G63 5-Speed, some basic mods on it. I was recently driving on the highway about 70 mp/hr when the car felt like it was vibrating and it literally started to sound like a harley motorbike. So i let off the throttle, started to pull over and then it stopped and the SES light went off. So i didn't have time to look at the OBD2 for the error code so i have no clue where to start to look for the problem. No new mods done recently, all i have done lately was add some coolant and thats all. Any ideas?

Most loud engine noises can be traced to the exhaust system.  Check under the car for a loose or broken areas at the connections between pipes.  Another a bit more difficult areas to check is within your timing belt area.  It's possible your balance shaft belt has come off, with can cause severe vibration and additional engine noise.  Start looking in those areas and see if you can detect the problem.
