Mitsubishi Repair: I need help please, eclipse spyder, poor fuel

Question
I have a 2001 eclipse spyder with the 2.4 motor and I am wondering what to look for when the motor won't start? and it makes a kind of hissing sound when it is turning over, and is that normal?

Answer
Shane,
There are a lot of things that can cause an engine not to start.  If the engine turns over, but just doesn't start that's usually an indication of a poor fuel supply or blocked air supply.  You may also have an ignition timing problem.  I'm not sure if the hissing noise it related.  It may be the fuel injectors trying to pressurize.  But if you just can't get it started, I'd suggest having it towed to a mechanic to give a thorough diagnosis.
Good luck!
