Mitsubishi Repair: power window off of its gear?, mitsubishi galant, temp gauge

Question
my 99" mitsubishi galant automatic/ power windows are no longer working. somone had hit it really hard and i think it pushed it off of whatever track or gears...i have no idea what i am talking about, my son mumbled something about gears...but do you think its an easy fix?  meaning not so expensive...??
oh, one more thing, my temp needle started to act funny lately, it shoots way up to H and beyond H right when i first start the car, and i know my is not overheating, no warning lights or service light is on...the funny thing is it goes back to normal randomly, sometimes the next time i start its fine and the needle raises to midpoint as the car warms up, but sometimes it just stays beyond H and i have no idea why...is it serious?

Answer
Lauren,
You may have a damaged window regulator.  The window regulator consists of the motor that raises and lowers the window.  The problem could also be an electrical issue.  Your local mechanic can check both.

Your temp gauge issue sounds like its being caused by a faulty sending unit.  It shouldn't cause any problems but you should have it inspected and replaced if faulty so you can be sure the reading you're seeing is correct.
Good luck!
