Mitsubishi Repair: Car wont start, mitsubishi eclipse, gas tanks

Question
I ran out of gas in my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse, and now it won't start. Where is the fuel relay switch located?

Answer
Gloria,
The fuel relay is most likely located behind the dash on the passenger side.  Though it's rare for those to be faulty.  You may have burned out your fuel pump or clogged your fuel filter as a result of running out of gas.  The fuel being sucked up by the pump helps keep the pump cool.  The lower the fuel level, the more strain it puts on the pump and can cause it to fail prematurely.  Also, most gas tanks accumulate debris over time.  When the gas level get low, the pump has a greater chance of sucking up that debris can getting clogged.  I'd recommend having the car brought to mechanic to inspect the fuel pump and the rest of the fuel system.
Good luck!
