Mitsubishi Repair: Automatic Electric Window Problem, mitsubishi evolution vii, automatic windows

Question
Hello, I have a 2005 Mitsubishi Evolution VII MR 2.0 manual, and I am having a weird problem with my automatic windows. They are supposed to go up and down automatically if you push or pull the switch till you feel a click, but it has stopped working only on the drivers window.

The window will still go down if you hold the switch, but will not do so automatically anymore. The window also will not go up automatically. To raise the window, it is possible by pulling the switch (but not before the 'automatic mode' click) but it will not go up continuously, it will stop every inch or so. This means closing the window involves pulling the switch gently multiple times.

I suspect the sensor for window position is broken or something. Can you please advise? Thank you.

Answer
Patell,
There is a little latch that holds the switch that allows the window to automatically go up and down when the button is pulled/pushed.  Once the window encounters resistance (after it has reached the top or bottom), the latch will release and stop the motor.  That latch is probably made of plastic and can wear down over time.  Once it has worn, it will not hold the switch to keep the motor active to move the window all the way up or down.  If you want to get it fixed, you may have to replace the drivers side window control switch.
Good luck!
