Mitsubishi Repair: Cracked Dash, auto salvage yard, repair options

My son just bought a 2000 eclipse.  Within 2 weeks the dash cracked in 5 places even though he had treated it with Armor All.  What solutions would you recommend and where can we get the parts?

Because the dash (or Instrument Panel as Mitsubishi calls it) is essential a single part, it's an expensive item.  A new one from the dealership would cost around $750-$1000.  You may be able to find one in good shape a local auto salvage yard for much cheaper.  You may want to consider calling around to local body shops and ask about repair options.
