Mitsubishi Repair: whistling sound coming from my exaust when I accelerate, intake hoses, mitz

Hi,I have a Mitz RVR 1999 GDI sports 5 door and I have a whistling sound when I accelerate but goes away when I take my foot off the gas a bit can you help me please as it get very annoying  regards Pete

Pete,
This usually indicates a leak in your air intake.  Check the air inlet into your air filter housing.  You may need to replace your air filter as well.  Check all your intake hoses and connections to make sure they are tight.  If need be, you may want to have a mechanic pressure test the intake system.
