Mitsubishi Repair: 1996 Galant, haynes manual, power locks


Question
my power door lock are not working, what can i do to fix it.
i did try to open the doors and look at it , didn't see anythings or wires are breaking. and also i open up the lock switch up too. didn't see anything's wrong.  i thing it is the computer board in the switch are bad.  while the doors are not lock and unlock by pressing the button, the battery are drain the power out. i have to jump it every morning.  please help me!  Thanks

Jonathan: It sounds like to me that you have a bad switch someplace and it is staying open so draining the battery. Those switches can go bad and not look it. I would change the switch to see if that might fix your problem. I would be getting a repair manual for your car, most parts stores have them, they cost around $20.00 and well worth the money for someone that wants to work on their own car. Get a Haynes manual as it is the best. In that manual would be a wiring diagram which would show you how those locks are wired. Another thing you could do is get a voltmeter and using that repair manual follow the wiring to see if you can find where the voltage is messing around and not going to the power locks but running the battery down. I think it is that switch but the manual would show you what to check. God bless: Linda
