Mitsubishi Repair: windshield wiper, montero sport, windshield wiper

Question
The wiper setting was on intermittent from last night. I started my 1999 Montero Sport this morning and one of the blades cycled and the other didn't. It was below freezing last night so I assumed the other was frozen and would release after it thawed a little. No luck. When I got to work I checked the non moving arm and it can be rotated up and down freely. Can the mechanism be repaired or do i need to have the motor replaced? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
Bruce: That arm might have broke something that is hooks to, or it might just got pushed out of that piece. You will have to check that, you might have burnt out the fuse for that arm. I honestly thought there was one motor which ran both wipers. So if one wiper still works but the other one doesn't. Then I think you broke something where the that wiper arm comes into the system. With the cold it could have broke a wire, the piece the arm goes into so you will have to get the car into someplace out of the cold and wind, check it over to see you might find the problem. If you want to work on the car, you could buy yourself a repair manual at any parts store they cost around $20.00 and well worth the money. Or take the car to a shop to have them fix the problem.
