Question
ok.. i have a '95 eclipse rs with 420a motor non turbo and front wheel drive... one day i was driving down the highway and my car just shut off..got it back home and found to be the engine fuse located in the fuse box under the hood...now some times it doesnt blow when you start it and other times it will blow ever time you start it...but after you can get it started with out it blowing it will eventually blow and the car shuts down (noting it controls the fuel and ignition circuits and pcm i believe...)and expertice on what is making it blow...short circuit...and can a bad sensor or switch cause it to blow?

Answer
Mat: Are you sure it is the fuse then it blows stops the car? Or the computer stops the car and then the fuse blows? I would have the car's computer coded, to see if the computer might kick out what the problem is. Have you ever changed the timing belt or chain on this car? If it has over 60,000 miles  on it and you have never done it. I would be doing that, because that might be something going on with that. If the engine fuse is blowing then something is making that happen. You could get a repair manual for your car, a voltmeter using the repair manual, with the wiring diagram in the manual check the wirting to see if you can find the problem. Most parts stores sell those manuals for around $20.00 and well worth the money. I would try to get a Haynes a better one I think. If the fuse is blowing before the computer than I would say you have a short circuit. God bless: Linda
