Mitsubishi Repair: galant 1999, water coolant, coolant level

Question
Hi, I have a few ? on this, My car is a V6 with so kind of a hick up when it rains, the thing is that it drives good until something gets wet and the car stops running, it can't start for a few minutes and then it starts normally, it only happens when it rains.

the other thing is that sometimes it overheats, I changed the thermostat and the problem didn't go away, 3 days it can run without over heating but then it just starts doing so, the water/coolant level is normal, what can it be? I would appreciate you're answers.

Best Regards

Answer
Ivan: Got an AutoZone close by to you? I would try getting the car coded as to check what the computer might print out as to the problem with the car. And AutoZone will code your car for free. I've heard of problems like this before and it is often than not a hard one to find out. I would say there is a short in your car, when it is wet outside the water gets to this short and then the computer shuts the car off. That is why I was thinking of you had the car coded, the computer might share its problems with you. The other overheating, I would check the water pump to see if it is getting weak. Also check the radiator cap, as they do get old and should be replaced. Also make sure the fan or fans kick on as they should. Sometimes the fan relay or even the fan fuse is out; so they don't do the job they or it should do. Some cars have one fan and some cars have two. Check and make sure the there is nothing between the radiator and the air it needs to keep cool. Oh you might check the drive belt it might be getting bad and needs to be replaced too. Are you sure you have the right amount of coolant in the system too? God bless: Linda
