Mitsubishi Repair: burning up alternators, alternator problem, battery down

Question
Just had my alternator changed.  mec. said he went through two alternatores  and couldn't fig out why.  finally said  he found the short.  that night  same thing happened.  battery going dead  srs light  door-open light and brake light all on constant.    also.   what damage is done when "sombody" accidently hooked up battery wrong for about 20 seconds.  the alternator was already an issue when this happened.

Answer
Scott: 20 seconds of the battery being hook up wrong should not hurt anything. As for the alternator problem you still have a short, could be a bad relay, no year or model of car. If you paid good money for the guy to fix your car, but he did not get it fixed. Then take the car back to him, because he does not have the problem fixed. There is still a short someplace, something is turning on the power till that power runs the battery down. Sure the alternator is hooked up right? But yet sounds like a short to me. Have the guy check for a bad relay someplace that is staying open and letting the power pull off the battery. He must have a repair manual and in those is wiring diagrams, he could follow that and then check your car. Mean while take the car back to this shop guy and get him to fix your car. God bless: Linda
