Mitsubishi Repair: Starter, 1997 mitsubishi diamante, mitsubishi diamante

I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Diamante and I am needing a starter but can't afford a new one from the auto part store and our salvage yards dont have my make of car so I was wondering if there is any other make of cars starter would interchange with mine?

The auto parts stores sell starters that are mostly interchangeable for many different makes and models of vehicles.  You'll probably see them for around $170 + core charge.  This is less than half the price you'd be charged from the manufacturer.  I don't know of all the other Mitsubishis where that specific starter may work.  The best would be to call the parts department of a Mitsubishi dealership and ask them to cross reference the part number of the starter with other vehicles.
