Mitsubishi Repair: 2002 Mitsubushi Lancer starting, mitsubushi lancer, intake air temperature sensor

Question
My '02 lancer seems to have to crank longer to start in the cold weather. Also I noticed that sometimes it idles rough, but at highway speed it is fine. Another problem that it has since I owned it 6 months ago is that it idles high when it first starts, after it warms up it is ok. Any suggestions??

Answer
John: I think I would have the computer coded, it sounds like to me that you have a sensor going or getting weak. The computer in that car controls everything. Another thing to check would be; when is the last time this car had a good tune up? How old is the battery? Oh hey if you got an AutoZone close by they would code your car for free, I was thinking that maybe the intake air temperature sensor might be getting weak but the coding would explain if that was true. Those sensors are costly so get the computer coded first to see. The computer controls how the engine with alot of different sensors all through the engine as to how it runs the lean or rich mix as to when the car is started. So I hope one of these ideas helps you. God bless: Linda
