Mitsubishi Repair: Electrical problems, mitsubishi mighty max, electrical problems

Question
I have a 1992 Mitsubishi Mighty Max, In the past it seems when a rain is due the alt. wont charge and a few days later it is fine. I just replaced my alt. 4 days ago , when i got home this afternoon my battery was dead and wouldn't start, so i jumped it off and took the ground wire off the battery and the truck died.                              Does this mean my Alt. is no good and if so what would cause it to do this?      I'm in a bind here and can't afford to take it to a mechanic

Have your battery tested and replaced if it does not hold a proper charge.  Many times when you alternator has to be replaced, so does your battery since they work so closely together.  If a new battery does not fix your problem, you should have that new alternator inspected and replaced if necessary.
