Mitsubishi Repair: magna problem, torque converter, dirty air

Question
I have a magna 93tr Executive sedan automatic transmission and it vibrates a lot when i come to a complete stop and when i accelerate from a standing start but it's alright when i get into second gear. I think it might have something to do with the idleing, can you help me out please.

Answer
Dennis,
There could be a few reasons why this can happen.
1. Check your fuel supply.  A weak fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, or clogged injectors cause rough idle.
2. Check your air intake.   A dirty air filter, leak in the air intake piping, or malfunctioning throttle body component can cause poor idling.
3. Have your ignition timing checked.  If your timing belt worn or your timing is not set properly, it can cause poor idling at low RPMs.
4. Have your torque converter inspected.  If your torque converter is faulty, it can cause bad idling when you're at a stop.
5. Have your charging system checked.  A worn alternator and/or battery can also cause rough idling.

Have your mechanic inspect at least those items and they may find the actual problem.
Good luck!
