Mitsubishi Repair: 2001 gallant transmission 127000 miles, kinds of sensors, autozone

Question
I have noticed that my transmission seems to grab or slip in first geer from a stop  it goes through the rest of the geers just fine, it does not do it all the time ,but it does do it often I bought the car used and as far as i know the trans has not been serviced , the fluid level is full. Iam takeing it in sat to have it serviced. Do you have any ideas what the problem might be so I wont be misinformed when i take it in. Thanks gordon.

Answer
Gordon: Have the computer coded to see what it might kick out for you. Believe it or not the computer controls the engine and the transmission with all kinds of sensors through out them. I think a fluid and filter change would help a lot. Maybe add some transmission conditioner would be good too. But the problem might be a weak sensor someplace as the reason for the coding of the computer. AutoZone could do that for you and they would do it for free if you went there. For now just do fluid, filter and conditioner; run the car for two weeks and see how it does then. Don't let the shop tell you, that you got to do something right now. But rather let's see how the new fluid and filter does. You will have to go to a part store and pick up a bottle of the transmission conditioner then ask the shop to put that in for you. No matter what the shop tells you, you need to always get a second shop to check things out before you go ahead to do something. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
