Mitsubishi Repair: A little advice., 4 cylinder cars, ball joints

Question
I have 2 questions and I hope I don't sound dumb for asking them.
1st question I own a 96 eclipse rs automatic. When I run the AC on it I lose a ton of power I don't know if its where its a 4cylender or is something wrong any advice would be greatly appreaciated.

2nd question. I went to get my car lined up at sears and they said that I needed to put adjustable ball joints on it in order to get it lined up properly. Will it cause any damage if I dont do this immideatly?

I just bought the car it in really good shape as far as looks go but I've heard so many bad things about it that it kinda worrys me.

Any kind of advice would be so appericated.

Thanks,
Matt

Answer
Matt,
On older 4 cylinder cars, you will notice a power loss when the A/C turns on.  The A/C compressor is powered by the engine, and when engaged, it robs some power.  You may want to have the compressor tested.  If it's worn or not being properly lubricated, it can cause significant power loss.

For your second issue, a new alignment will not last if your ball joints are bad.  Getting the ball joints replaced will ensure your alignment stays true and will increase the life of your tires.
Good luck!
