Mitsubishi Repair: 1994 3000GT, mitsubishi dealership, tranny oil

Question
Hi i have a 94 3000gt with an automatic front wheel drive tranny. I had to get it rebuilt about a year ago. Yesterday when we were coming from a park the car started shaking. We stopped and check the tranny oil. Everything was fine. We got back into the freeway and it slip and didn't run no more. It smelled like when an electrical device burns. I went to the junk yard. I found a 1991 Diamante with automatic transmission. I want to know if the engine and the tranny would fit the 94 3000GT

Answer
Mariano,
The exact part numbers for the engine assembly for the 3000GT only matches that of the 1992 and later Diamantes.  But you may still be able to swap the engines since they are still in the same family.  I would recommend you contact a Mitsubishi dealership (parts or service department) and ask if that 1991 engine would fit.  Have the VIN ready for both cars before you call.  You can use this page as another reference.

Good luck!
