How do you get the caliper off the front wheel of a 1988 Mitsubishi mighty max one of the bolts is recessed and covered with a removable red cap.

I've never done a brake job on an older Mighty Max, so I cannot picture what that recessed bolt looks like.  But you may be able to get a thin walled socket onto the head of the bolt to remove it.  Most auto parts stores sell sockets of various thickness for such a situation.
